The Lab
Equipment
The lab available for the MaTech-CCult group members is well equipped with a wide range of analytical techniques:
- Differential Scanning Calorimetry, DSC operating from -150°C to 600°C.
- Simultaneous Thermal Analysis (STA), Differential Scanning Calorimeter – Thermo-Gravimetric Analysis, DSC-TGA, operating in air, nitrogen or vacuum up to 1100°C.
- Photo – Differential Scanning Calorimetry, p-DSC, operating from 0°C to 600°C.
- Permeability (to water vapor and oxygen) measurements for membranes and films.
- Outdoor placed standard rack (to analyze the materials weathering).
The members of the MaTech-CCult group have also access to the following instruments:
- Dynamometer machine (equipped with tools for tensile, flexural, compression tests) with different lead cells; the machine is also equipped with an oven to perform mechanical tests at moderate temperatures.
- Charpy and Izod impact pendulum equipped with a load cell.
- Optical Microscope, equipped with a hot-stage.
- Scanning Electron Microscope, SEM, equipped with an environmental chamber and Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy, EDS, analyzer.
- Wide angle X-ray Diffractometer.
- X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, XRF.
- UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer.
- UV weathering chamber, QUV, equipped with UV-B type lamps.
- Strain controlled cone and plate and parallel plate rheometer, equipped with disposable plates for analysis on thermoset polymers and tools (torsion mode) for Dynamic Mechanical Thermal Analysis, DMTA.
- Dynamic Light Scattering, DLS.
- ShoreD durometer.
- Pencil hardness instrument.
- Planetary mill and blade mill for ceramics and polymers.
- Dynamic contact angle, equipped with a video-camera.
- Colorimeter.
